I started my career going down a scientific route but soon deviated and instead completed a degree in Hospitality Management with a year spent in the USA. Then after a few years of hard toil with a large brewery company, I decided to travel for a year and work my way around Australia and the Pacific Islands. It was upon my return to the UK that I began to learn the language of databases and developed my skills in coding.
Redundancy offered me the chance to go self-employed and work for a small IT company with a wide variety of contracts. My work introduced me to a diverse range of clients, big and small, over a wide geographic area. But with a family, a mad dog and chickens, life became logistically challenged!
Really Simple Systems came along like a light at the end of a tunnel and I’ve now been with the company for 6 years, thoroughly enjoying each day. A positive vibe and a joint passion for good food and a good life make working days happy days.
Outside of work, I’m a Brown Owl and lead a pack of Girl Guides. We meet up every week, go camping each summer and have a lot of fun! At home my family are all fans of the TV show ‘The Great British Bake-Off’ and we often spend time in the kitchen creating our versions of their culinary masterpieces. I enjoy being active too – running (with the mad dog and my colleague Chris Tree) and skiing rank high in my favourites, but I’m always up for any energetic challenge!
